The final local basketball camp of the summer took place at North Adams High School on June 21 and 22 as Green Devils varsity coach Nathan Copas and his staff hosted their annual Pee-Wee Camp. Twenty four young men, ages third through sixth grades, graced the gym floor at NAHS from 9-12 a.m. each day, working on the fundamental skills that will allow them to be future members of the North Adams basketball program.
Ball handling, shooting form, and many other skills were on the camp agenda along with a number of competitions to keep the action spirited, such as Beat the Buzzer, Hot Shot, Dribble Knockout, and a Free Throw Shooting Contest.
“I really felt like it was a good two days of camp,” said Coach Copas on the camp’s final morning. “The kids seemed to be great listeners and they worked hard both days.”
“I had a couple of goals coming into the camp, make it fun for the kids and provide them with some drills that they could take home with them to help develop their personal skill sets.”
Copas and his staff were assisted by more than a dozen of the high school Green Devils, a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by the head coach.
“It is great to have our high school guys working the camp,” said the NAHS head coach. “It’s good to see them taking the time to work with the next generation of players that will come through the North Adams program. They are building relationships with these young players that will only help make our program stronger.”
The campers at this year’s NAHS Pee-Wee Basketball Camp included: Jacob Wheeler, Jameson Burns, Jordan Daniels, Jesse Kennedy, Maddix Martain, Casen Campbell,, Jackson Harper, Jayden Reckers, Carsyn Raines, Thaddeus Moore, R2 Dunkin, Dalton Pence, Xander Thatcher, Colton Bowling, Beau Hesler, Cayden Wills, Kaden Schweitzer, Preston Call, Connor Young, Cameron McCann, Breestein Schweickart, Caleb DeAtley, Konnor Rogers, and Jayce Rothwell.
