Two local student-athletes recently received state recognition for their performances in the 2018 softball and baseball seasons. Peebles junior Madison Pierce and North Adams senior Bryant Lung both were named Honorable Mention All-Ohio by two different organizations.
The Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association recently released its All-Ohio Teams for Divisions I-IV and the Peebles junior pitcher found her name on the Honorable Mention list after a 2018 season where she was 14-2 in the center circle and hit .385 at the plate, including a pair of long balls. Pierce adds to her growing list of honors that have included Southern Hills Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Southeast District First Team All-District.

In baseball, Lung was also named Honorable Mention All-Ohio as a catcher by an organization known as the Prep Baseball Report (www.prepbaseballreport.com/ohio). Lung, who after graduating this spring from NAHS, is headed to continue his career at Ohio Christian University, had an outstanding senior year.
The pitcher/catcher was consistent from start to finish, hitting .453 in his senior year, banging out 14 extra-base hits for a Green Devils team that finished the year at 15-6.
On the mound, Lung went 5-1 with a sparkling 1.29 earned run average, striking out 54 batters in 38 innings of work.
