One killed in two-vehicle accident

Traffic stopped on Rte. 136 for hours after fatal crash – 

The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle commercial vehicle fatal crash.  The crash occurred on S.R. 136 near milepost 3 in Sprigg Township, Adams County at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27,
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Black Dodge Ram, operated by Ricky A. Weisner, age 57 of West Union, Ohio, was turning north on S.R. 136 from a private driveway.  A 2007 Sterling Truck, operated by David L. Kennedy, age 51 from Mount Olivet, Ky., was northbound on S.R. 136.  The Sterling Truck had a passenger, Vincent J. Gibson, age 38 of Carlisle, Ky.
Preliminary investigation shows that the Dodge truck failed to yield from the private driveway in front of the Sterling truck. Mr. Kennedy struck the Dodge truck before driving left of center then over-correcting.  Mr. Kennedy’s vehicle then overturned in the roadway loosing its load before coming to rest on its wheels.  Mr. Weisner’s vehicle rolled over off the right side of S.R. 136 coming to rest in a ditch line.

The passenger in the Sterling truck, Vincent J. Gibson, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Adams County Coroners Office.  The driver, David L. Kennedy, was entrapped in the truck and was removed by mechanical means by the Manchester and West Union Fire Departments.  The driver of the Dodge truck, Mr. Weisner, was not injured in the crash and refused treatment at the scene.
The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  Drugs and/or alcohol are not a factor in the crash.  All occupants involved were wearing installed safety belts.
Unit assisting on the scene were Manchester Fire and EMS, West Union Fire and EMS, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Adams County Coroners Office.
