James R Taylor Sr

James Richard “Dick” Taylor, Sr., 91, formerly of Laredo, Texas, died at 4:47 p.m., on Saturday June 23, 2018, at the Wapakoneta Manor.  He was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Urbana, Ohio, the son of John Blaine and Dorothy Alberta (Burton) Taylor, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include three children, Carolyn (Don) Bishop of Dayton, Ohio, Melody (Jim) Stapleton of West Union, Ohio, and James R. Taylor, Jr. of Bellefontaine, Ohio; three grandsons; and three great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty June Gillenwater of Ripley, Ohio.
Dick was a retired truck driver with the John Cheeseman Trucking Company of Fort Recovery, Ohio.  He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952.  He was a life member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the Eagles of Manchester, Ohio and Laredo, Texas.  He had a love for cars, especially Cadillacs, and enjoyed trucking and traveling.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica with his many friends and family who will miss him deeply
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio where military rites will be conducted.
Arrangements are being conducted by the Eley Funeral Home  & Crematory in Wapakoneta.
