Richard A McCleese, Sr., 91 years, of Peebles, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Adams County Regional Medical Center.

Richard was born in Stricklett, Kentucky, on January 18, 1927, the son of the late Frank and Estella (McDonald) McCleese. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and later worked for General Electric Aircraft. Richard attended the Carmel Church of God.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Caddell McCleese, whom he married on November 7, 1953. He was also preceded in death by his son, Richard McCleese, Jr.; a brother, Herb McCleese; and three sisters, Elsie Palmer, Audrey Stout, and Olive Daniels. Richard leaves behind his son, Amos (Bonita) McCleese, of Peebles; and five daughters, Faith (Steve) Mahorney, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; Lilly (Terry) McCann, of New Vienna; Rachael Akers, of Peebles; Carol (Roy) Howard, of Peebles; and Lois (Randy) Storer, of Hillsboro. He is also survived by a brother, Frank McCleese, Jr; and a sister, Clara Becker, both of Peebles. Richard will be missed by his many friends, as well as his fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, in Peebles, Ohio. Burial will follow at the Strait Creek Cemetery. The Adams County Honor Guard will provide military services.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, prior to the funeral services, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the funeral home in Peebles.
