Each year, the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association presents the Bob Arnzen Award to any basketball coaches who have devoted 20 consecutive years or more of service to the same school and for their loyalty and commitment to Ohio High School basketball.
The award is named in honor of the late Bob Arnzen, the legendary boys coach at Delphos St. John’s High School. At the time of his retirement, Coach Arnzen spent 43 years as the head coach and was the second winningest coach of all-time in Ohio High School Basketball History with 676 wins.
One of this year’s recipients of the Arnzen Award was North Adams girls varsity basketball coach Rob Davis, who has been involved with the NAHS basketball programs for 23 year,s 19 of those as the head coach of the Lady Devils varsity. Davis was presented his award on Saturday, march 17 at halftime of the girls’ Division III championship game at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
The list of accomplishments for Davis as the head coach of the Lady Devils is a lengthy one, coming off a 2017-18 season where his team made their fourth consecutive appearance in the district championship game. He also garnered his 250th career win this season as his Lady Devils won a share of their seventh consecutive Southern Hills Athletic Conference title and finished with an overall record of 20 wins against just four losses.
