Thirty-nine members of the Manchester Junior Beta Club shared the Christmas spirit on Thursday, Dec. 14, with residents of the Georgetown Villa Nursing Home by assisting with their shopping at the West Union Wal-Mart. Students met with the residents at Wal-Mart and spent the next couple of hours escorting them up and down the aisles, chatting, laughing, sharing stories, and shopping for Christmas gifts.
MHS Junior Beta members have met with the senior citizens of the Villa for the past twelve years. Last year, member Gabby Brown presented “her lady” with two lap quilts that she quilted herself under the direction of her grandmother Anne Taylor of The Quilt Barn.
The Beta members look forward to this trip eachh Chtistmas season as one of their most memorable and enjoyable activities. In the spring, they travel to Georgetown Villa to spend time playing games and reading with residents as well as their Christmas shopping partners.
