Coach Tony Williams and his North Adams JV girls basketball squad improved their season mark to 11-4 on Jan. 23 with a 34-27 home win over the Peebles Lady Indians.
Getting two baskets from guard Abbi Stacy, the Lady Devils led 8-6 after one quarter of action, but then fell off in the second stanza, scoring just four points on baskets by Courtney Brown and Desiree Ison.
In the meantime, the Lady Indians were forging into the halftime lead, getting a three-point goals from Anna Kremin and buckets by Kylie Sims and Christian Reed to lead 13-12 at the break.
In the third period, it was the host Lady Devils taking back the advantage, outscoring Peebles 8-4.A three-point goal by Stacy keyed the run, with Alaina Eiterman adding three points as North Adams led 20-17 after three quarters.
In the final six minutes of the contest, the Lady Devils went to the free throw line 13 times, converting on 8 of those opportunities to hang on to their lead.  Two baskets by Harlee Wilkinson kept Peebles close but the North Adams free throws were the difference as they pulled out the seven-point win.
Stacy led the winners with 12 points, with Brown adding 6, while the Lady Indians were paced by 8 points from Sims and 6 from Reed.
