A successful high school coach, among other things, is one who sets a good example for his/her athletes, both on and off the field of competition.  For a golf coach, there is no better way to set the example than to score your own hole-in-one.
That is exactly what North Adams girls golf coach Rachel Herman did last Friday afternoon.  Playing the 96-yar, par 3, hole number 8 at Kenton Station in Maysville, Herman used a wedge to record the first ace of her long golf career.
“I hit is just left of the pin and saw it bouncing right,” said Herman.  “I heard it hit the pin and said with my luck that’s off the green.”
“I got up there and didn’t see my ball so I grabbed my wedge and putter.  As I walked up to the green, the flag was still moving so I looked in the hole and there I saw my Titleist #4.  I still can’t believe it.”
Take heed Lady Devils, the coach knows how it is done.
