The summer basketball season has wound to a close and one of the final events was a JV Girls Shootout hosted by the North Adams Lady Devils on June 24. Eight teams came to Seaman for the shootout, including an emergency entry.

That late entry happened to be the North Adams eighth grade girls squad, as Coach Shannon Staggs rounded up a team after the Bethel-Tate JV squad dropped out. No worries about the North Adams Junior High girls being over matched as they won all three of their outings on the day, topping JV teams from Fairfield (24-21), Ripley (26-16), and Southeastern (35-19).

Coach Tony Williams and his JV Lady Devils also had a pretty good day, taking two out of their three match ups. Williams and his squad defeated Hillsboro 22-15 and Portsmouth West 19-14. West is now coached by former West Union head man Jason Claytor. The Lady Devils dropped their third outing of the day, falling to Eastern Brown 22-16.

The format for the shootout was a pair of 16-minute halves with a running clock until the final minute.
