Russell D. Grooms, age 88 years of West Union, died Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman. Mr. Grooms was born on July 5, 1927, the son of the late Homer and Loah Belle (Fenton) Grooms in Tulip, Ohio. Besides his parents, Mr. Grooms was preceded in death by his wife Lois, whom he married on June 10, 1955 and his oldest son Roger Grooms, two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Grooms was a graduate of Jefferson High School, veteran of the US Army, a longtime employee of the Adams County Hospital, a member of the West Union Masonic Lodge #43 and a very active member of the Adams County Honor Guard.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie and Karen Grooms of West Union and Randy Grooms of West Union; daughter in law Joyce Grooms of West Union; one brother, William Grooms of Maineville; one sister  Phyllis Roush of Bethel; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on June 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home with Ron Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the East Liberty Cemetery with Military graveside services by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 2, 2016 from 5- 8 p.m. with Masonic Services at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
