Block Party Celebration set for June 5
On Monday, May 9, in celebration and recognition of the 20th anniversary offering addiction and recovery services in Adams county by The Counseling Center, Adams County commissioners issued a proclamation, which read in part,
WHEREAS, The Counseling Center, Inc. Adams County, began operating in 1996, as a nonprofit behavioral health and addiction treatment services agency, led by Executive Director Ed Hughes and a team of licensed clinical counselors and social workers with special training in alcohol and drug addiction and behavioral health issues. Services offered at The Counseling Center Adams County have grown over the years to include primary health care, supportive recovery housing and vocational training; and
WHEREAS, The Counseling Center Adams County first started serving families and individuals, in a small office space, and now has expanded the workforce, moving to 210 N. Wilson Street, West Union; and serves clients from more than 23 states and 36 Ohio counties, operating outpatient addiction treatment services, Crisis Center and Hotline services, a family support service Loved Ones Groups; and
WHEREAS, creating partnerships with existing community health agencies like the Adams County Health Coalition to address a growing health crisis, and helping individuals overcome addiction, connecting them to a lifetime of recovery resources, The Counseling Center mission is “we believe in miracles” – to help individuals rebuild their lives as clean and sober, good neighbors and contributors to the economic and spiritual health of their families and community, and a life built on recovery, are the primary goals of The Counseling Center Adams County; educating youth and all citizens to live drug free;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Adams County Board of Commissioners does hereby congratulate The Counseling Center Adams County on its 20th Anniversary, recognizes the agency as a valuable community asset, and celebrates the agency’s positive impact upon our community, as they serve as a steadfast and dedicated business partner in Adams County;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Adams County Board of Commissioners join the citizens of this community in appreciation and celebration of the 20th Anniversary of The Counseling Center in Adams County, and issues sincere thanks on behalf of individuals and families who choose to live drug free.
The Counseling Center Adams County would like to invite the community to a 20th Anniversary Celebration Block Party on Sunday, June 5 from 1 – 4 p.m. on the parking lot of their outpatient office location, 210 N. Wilson Street in West Union. There will be music, activities for families including face painting, bouncy house, snow cones, a cookout and a Celebration of 20 Years of Recovery program at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
