The Humane Society of Adams County (HSAC) is currently the only animal shelter in the county that is equipped to provide care for large numbers of homeless cats and kittens. That does not mean that HSAC is the only group helping local felines, however. Other groups, such as the Adams County Ohio Rescue Network, (ACORN), and Sacred Hearts Animal Sanctuary have worked for years to hep community residents re-home unwanted cats. All three groups also promote services to help residents get their pet cats sterilized through low-cost veterinary clinics to end the cycle of cat overpopulation.

On March 10 cats in Adams County gained another ally in the form of an animal shelter in Washington Courthouse. When the Fayette Humane Society recently had extra space for cats and kittens in their adoption center, they were able to extend a helping hand to cats in the Humane Society of Adams County’s Animal Shelter in West Union by accepting the cats into their own facility. Networking like this saves more lives and helps more animals find homes.
