Just a few days after Christmas, four local boys and their families traveled south to Orlando, Florida to play in the 2015 Disney New Year’s Classic baseball tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Logan Mahan of Peebles, Logan Bell, and Kyle and Karson Reaves of Manchester were all part of the Champions Baseball Academy’s Select Disney Team. The boys took part in a try-out over the summer and worked very hard all fall preparing for the big tournament with other players from all over the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

Tournament play began on Wednesday, Dec. 30 and ran through New Years at the beautiful ESPN complex in Orlando. There was picture perfect weather for the week, perfect for baseball.

Karson Reaves played on the 10U team and finished fourth against a team from Pennsylvania. Logan Bell and Logan Mahan both played on the 12U team and battled it out through four games and were knocked out of the tournament by a team from Virginia. Both boys got the opportunity to take their place on the mound and both pitched very well.

Kyle Reaves, coached by his father Josh, played on the 14U team and also played four great games and finished out the tournament against a team from Maryland. It was a memorable experience for these four young men and and opportunity for these athletes from Adams County with a love for baseball to play in a beautiful facility with kids from all over the United States.

These four local boys, three from Manchester (Kyle Reaves, Karson Reaves, Logan Bell) and one from Peebles (Logan Mahan) recently competed in a baseball tournament in Orlando, Fla.
