Lady Dragons top Whiteoak

The West Union Lady Dragons volleyball squad picked up their sixth win of the 2015 campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 29 as they hosted the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats and send their visitors back home with a four set defeat as West Union triumphed, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21, and 25-20.

After dropping the first set, the Lady Dragons rallied to take the next three, behind some strong play from seniors Casey Mueller and Kristen Grooms, according to head coach Debbie McClanahan.

“Whiteoak came to win and really started out strong,” said McClanahan after the win. “Our girls rallied together and finished stronger, winning three straight. Missing 13 serves in the match wasn’t great but the feeling in getting a league win is great.”

In a match broadcast by C103 Radio, Mueller was named the station’s Player of the Game.

The win improved the West Union girls to 6-8 overall for the season, 5-4 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.
