Randy Brewer, produce manager at Prather’s IGA in West Union, has been named Produce Manager of the Year by the Laurel Grocery Company.
Brewer has been employed at Prather’s IGA for 34 years. He has been the produce manager for 31 years.
The announcement of Brewer’s award was made during the Laurel Grocery Company’s Food Show at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington.
“It was very unexpected,” said Brewer, “Laurel supplies products to stores that do millions of dollars in business a year, so it was a surprise to be recognized.”
Laurel is a full service wholesaler of groceries, meat, produce, and general supplies. The London, KY company delivers products to several hundred family-owned retail stores in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
The award is based on several factors including sales numbers, appearance, displays, and the quality of product.
“My goal is always to provide Prather’s customers with the very best selections in our produce department,” said Brewer, “We put our customers first.”
Randy lives in West Union with his wife of 33 years, Tammy. They have three sons Kyle, Scott, and Ryan.
He also serves on the West Union Village Council and is active in the West Union community.
