‘A’ Tournament begins Sunday

Ben Figgins will lead his No. 1 seeded North Adams Devils into play in next week’s SHYL Class “A” Tournament.

After a multitude of rain delays and a myriad of scheduling issues, the Southern Hills Youth League Class “A” baseball tournament will finally get underway this weekend, with the first round of games scheduled for Sunday, July 19 at the Rec Park in West Union.

Action will begin at noon with a hometown battle as West Union 1 will match up with West Union 3 with the winner advancing to a July 21 contest against No. 1 seeded North Adams.

At 2 p.m. on Sunday, No. 3 seeded Peebles 1 will open tourney play, facing either West Union 2 or Peebles 2, which had not yet been determined at press time. The winner of that game will face off the very next night against the winner of No. 2 seeded Manchester as the Hounds open at 4 p.m. on Sunday against either Peebles 2 or West Union 2.

The “A” league championship game will be played on July 22 in West Union with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
