The rainy weather pattern continues over Adams County and the Ohio Valley with heavy downpours occurring nearly every day and intermittent showers in the forecast for most of the weekend. Storms rolled through on Thursday morning, causing this tree to split and cover a portion Route 52 in Manchester.

Rain has dampened portions of the track at the Adams County Fairgrounds, but forecasts show little to no percipitation for most of fair week.

Rain is falling in heavy amounts nearly every day in Adams County and should continue throughout the weekend according to weather forecasts.

Damage to a tree from the weather caused the blockage of a portion of U.S. 52 on Thursday morning.

According to Weather Underground’s website, 23.21 inches of rain has fallen in the area from July 7, 2014 to July 8, 2015 and 11.15 inches of that, or about 48 percent of the yearly total, has fallen in the past month.

More rain is expected to fall by the beginning of the Adams County Fair as forecasts call for a chance of thunderstorms that could dump another .63 inches on Sunday July 12 and .14 inches on July 13 before things potentially dry up for the majority of the remaining fair days.

Rainfall in June was up from last year as well. In June 2014, the area saw a monthly amount of about 3.56 inches. In June 2015, the area saw that number swell up to 6.11 inches, a 71.6-percent increase from 2014.
