The name of the man arrested in the destruction of a portion of Serpent Mound has been released by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Daniel Coleman Dargavell, 19, of Peebles, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly confessing to the vandalism of the burial mound at Serpent Mound to a detective, according to authorities.

Law enforcement officials were able to review the video of the incident, then received a tip on whose vehicle may have been in the video and went to Dargavell.

Dargavell is facing two counts of vandalism of a property controlled by a government entity — which are felonies of the fifth degree. Dargavell is currently in the Adams County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
