Hunter Harris and his heifer, Black Diamond, recently attended the McPeak’s “Be A Champ” Show Cattle Camp in Warner, OK. McPeak’s “Be A Champ” Show Cattle Camp is a four day fast moving camp geared to 4-H and FFA participants which teaches the latest in show cattle grooming, fitting and showmanship. Jerry McPeak is the director of the camp and has been hosting the camp for 24 years since its inception in 1982. There are three camps held at different times during the summer. Hunter was one of approximately 120 participants who attended the camp from June 18-21, 2015 with participants attending from nine different states.

On the final day of the camp, a fitting contest and showmanship contest is held. Each participant is paired with another participant to compete as a team in the fitting contest. Hunter was paired with Chase Faber of Indianola, OK. Hunter and Chase placed second out of ten teams in their age group on the fitting contest. Hunter also received an honorable mention in the showmanship contest for his age group. Hunter is the son of Steven and Crystal Harris of West Union.
