Mark Carpenter has been the Sports Editor of The People's Defender since early 2010. He is a graduate of Ripley High School and Wittenberg University. He lives in Ripley with his wife Aimee, a first grade teacher, and his two children, Kelsey and Jordan. When not working on the latest local sports stories, Mark can be found reading everything sports related, watching "The Andy Griffith Show", or giving his complete loyalty and devotion to University of Kentucky basketball.
Rachael Hamilton does classified and display advertising. She has worked at The People's Defender seven years. She and her husband, Justin, live in West Union and have two children, Brooklyn and Gavin. She is a very good photographer and occasionally shoots for the newspaper.
Paul Hannah is relatively new to The People's Defender joining the staff in early 2014. He has a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Louisville. He did his undergraduate studies at Northern Kentucky University. He resides in West Union.
Peggy Niswander is a Business Development Representative for The People's Defender. She has worked at the newspaper for more than 10 years, also serving as the business and circulation manager. Peggy grew up in Michigan and relocated to Ohio in 1996. She is married to Thomas and has a beautiful little girl, Sarah, and two step-daughters Kendra and Holly. They have a Chihuahua named Lucy, a Boxer named Mya, and raise chickens. In her free time she enjoy, cooking, quilting, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Steve Triplett has more than 30 years in the newspaper business. He has edited newspapers in Georgetown, Ripley, Portsmouth, Gallipolis, Huber Heights and Englewood in his career.
He is a graduate of Morehead State University and a graduate of Portsmouth West High School.
He and his wife, Margaret, have two adult children and one grandchild.
In the past 10 years newspapers under his guidance have won more than 55 awards for excellence..
