With the regular season winding down, it’s time to think post-season for the county’s junior high boys basketball teams as the Southern Hills Athletic Conference tournament for the seventh and eighth grades are set to get underway on Saturday. Game times had yet to be announced at press time.


The seventh grade tourney will begin at Fayetteville Junior High on Saturday when host and #7 seed Fayetteville (3-7) battles #9 seed Manchester (1-9). Also at Fayetteville on Saturday, #4 seed Lynchburg (4-5) will face #5 seed Whiteoak (4-6).


The seventh grade quarterfinals take place on Feb.5 at Peebles High School. Seeded #1, Eastern (10-0) will face #8 seed West Union (1-8). The Fayetteville-Manchester winner will match up with #2 seed Ripley (11-1), and finally #3 seed Fairfield (7-3) will tangle with #6 seeded North Adams (3-6).


The seventh grade semi-finals are scheduled for Feb. 8 at Whiteoak High School and the championship game will be held on Feb. 12 at Fairfield High School.


Eighth grade action begins on Saturday with three games at Fayetteville High School, as #8 seed Eastern (5-7) faces #10 seeded Manchester (1-11). It will be #7 seed Fayetteville (5-6) battling #9 seeded North Adams (1-10), while #4 seed Ripley (7-5) matches up with #5 seed Fairfield (6-5).


Quarterfinal contests will be held on Feb. 6 at North Adams High School, with #1 seed Lynchburg (9-1) facing the winner of the Eastern-Manchester game. West Union (9-2) is the #2 seed and will face the winner of the Fayetteville-North Adams game, with #3 seed Peebles battling #6 seed Whiteoak.


The eighth grade semi-finals are set for Feb. 8 at Whiteoak High School and the championship tilt will be on Feb. 12 at Fairfield High School.
