The North Adams Lady Devils volleyball squad continued their fine start to the 2014 campaign last week, getting Southern Hills Athletic Conference wins over Fayetteville and Lynchburg to improve to 4-1 on the season, 3-0 in the SHAC.

It took four sets for the Lady Devils to pick up the win on the road in Fayetteville on Aug. 28, 25-22, 25-17, 17-25, and 25-14. Senior Rylee Copas led the way with 19 kills, 12 digs, 5 aces, and a pair of blocks. The dependable Kayla Baker added 38 assists, 9 digs, and 5 aces. Playing big again around the net was Madison Jenkins with 9 kills and 4 blocks.

“We played well at the net all throughout this match,” said North Adams head coach Katie Ragan. “At times, our passing let us down but our overall serving was very good.”

The Lady Devils had a bit easier time the next night as they played host to the Lynchburg Lady Mustangs and grabbed a straight set win, 25-10, 25-14, and 25-7. Again, it was Copas leading the way with her stat line of 14 kills and 7 digs, while Baker chipped in with 29 assists. Jenkins was again big with 10 kills and 3 blocks.

North Adams looks to continue its SHAC unbeaten streak tomorrow night when they travel to Manchester to face a talented team of Lady Hounds. On Saturday, the Lady Devils will go out of the league and play host to Portsmouth Notre Dame at 11 a.m.
