The 2014 Southeast District All-District Baseball Teams were recently announced and Adams County is well-represented with five young men being honored. The All-District list, voted on by the member of the District’s Coaches Association, is eerily similar to the Southern Hills Athletic Conference in that the same five players were named to each squad.
In Division III, West Union’s Kyle Taylor was named Honorable Mention in the West, as the District Teams are divided into East-West groups. Lynchburg sophomore Cory Snider was named First Team in the West, with teammates Gage Waits making Second Team and Ryan Inman earning Honorable Mention. Eastern’s Curtis Burns also garnered Honorable Mention in the West with Lynchburg’s Garyn Waits being named the Division III West Coach of the Year.
The First Team West in Division IV is loaded with talent from the SHAC, with six of the nine spots going to players from the league.
From Adams County, Hank Sparks of North Adams, Brady Johnson from Peebles, and Sean Frost from Manchester all earned First Team honors after their fine spring seasons. Those countians were joined on the West’s First Team by Fairfield’s Joe Wilson and Zach Cox and Whiteoak’s Tyler Williams.
Second Team honors in Division IV West went to Whiteoak’s Jason Jones and Fairfield’s Blake Hilderbrant while Honorable Mention recognition was given to Mikey Sheeley from North Adams and Spencer Michael from Whiteoak. The Division IV West Coach of the Year was Fairfield’s Matt Garman.
At press time, the All-District lists for softball had not yet been released to the media.
