The final night of racing in the month of May at the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex was a full one with two extra classes joining the lineup to entertain the fans as the Mini-Sprints and Modlites both made their first stop at BMC for 2014 last Saturday night. Dilan Allagree was the lone Mini-Sprinter who made the run but this was no ordinary night for Allagree, it was his first race in a Mini-Sprint. Kevin Spencer picked up the win in the Modlite division. Once the new classes exited the speedway it was time for the regular racing program to show its stuff.

The Crazy Compacts prepped for a wild feature event. Kelly Young brought the field to the green flag. Once the race got under way Randy Johnson of Piketon jumped out in front of Young. Johnson looked to be pulling away until Tommy Stout ran him down. Stout and Johnson battled for about a lap and Stout was able to pull ahead. It looked to be Stout’s race to lose until he blew a right front tire sending him to the pits. Johnson then rolled to the easy victory followed by Young, Kevin Howell, Jesse Taylor and Stout.

The Hidden Gem Web Designs Sport Mods rolled out next. Danny Hamilton and Harrison Hall both led the field to the green flag but that didnt last long. A mechanical failure on the first lap for Hamilton gave the nine- year old Hall nowhere to go, resulting in a crash that sent both drivers to the pits. After the complete restart Mike Brust and Derek Richmond were up front to settle the win for themselves. Brust kept a protective distance over Richmond throughout the entire 15 Lap feature. Brust won his first feature event in the Sport Mod division followed by Robert Lunsford, James Spillman, Greg Litteral, and Richmond.

Modifieds lined up to race after the Sport Mods. The race was filled with action between leaders Jeremy Rayburn and Dave Jamison. After an early incident which sent Rayburn to the tail he was on a mission to return to the lead. The Portsmouth driver rocketed through the field to run behind the leader Jamison. Rayburn was stuck following in the second spot and just couldn’t find a line to work to get back around Jamison. Jamison won his third straight feature of 2014 followed by Jeremy Rayburn, Mike Gross, Tim Rayburn and Colton Wright.

The Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Cars were the final cars on track. Jerren Perdue and Steven Partin were heat race winners and shared the front row for the start of the race. As the race got going Perdue pulled Partin into the first turn. Throughout a caution filled race, Partin couldn’t pass Perdue but never let him get too far away. In the closing laps Partin attempted to drive the car harder to make the pass and ended up getting into the outside wall. This left Perdue with the win. Perdue picked up his third feature win of 2014 on the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series tour followed by John Gutman, Cole DeMint, Steve Duderstadt and Derek Minshew.

Brushcreek Motorsports Complex is off this coming weekend but will be back in action Saturday June 7 with Mt. Hope Bible Camp Kids Night, a night filled with fun activities for the young race fans. Also don’t forget about The Firestorm Dueling Fireworks show on July 3. The most popular event at BMC gets bigger in 2014 with the traditional fireworks show, Parking Lot Party from 7-10 p.m., entertainment from the Cincinnati Circus Company, 2013 Championship Presentations and much more. Mark your calendars down for July 3 and be a part of the biggest party of the season.
