The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association has recently released its lists of Academic All-Ohio players plus the five teams in the state with the highest combined GPA for the first semester of the 2013-14 school year. The Peebles Indians are well represented on these lists.

Peebles Sidney Pell, who will be continuing her basketball career as a student/athlete at Ohio Christian University this fall, was named Girls Division IV Academic All-Ohio for her 3.90 grade point average. Pell, the daughter of Ty and Jene Pell, averaged 20.7 points a game this season for the Lady Indians while also maintaining her high academic standing.

In the 2013-14 Team Awards for highest GPA, the Peebles boys squad, coached by Josh Arey, placed fourth in the state as their boys worked in the classroom to the tune of a 3.830 combined grade point average.

The People’s Defender sports department congratulates these student/athletes on their superior efforts.
