Though the abundance of cancellations and rescheduling made this year’s drawing less that perfect, the pairings have been set for the 2013-14 Southern Hills Athletic Conference Junior High girls basketball tournaments. Action will begin tonight and continue until the Feb. 8 finals, weather permitting.

Seventh grade tournament action was scheduled to begin last night as Ripley (5-4) was scheduled to host Fayetteville (5-5). Tomorrow night, Manchester (2-6) will play host to North Adams (0-11). On Saturday at Ripley High School, #1 seeded West Union (11-1) will battle Eastern, #2 seed Fairfield (9-1) will challenge the Manchester-North Adams winner, and #3 seed Lynchburg (8-1) faces Peebles (5-5). Those Saturday game times have yet to be determined.

The seventh grade semi-finals will be played on Feb. 3 at Lynchburg and the finals will be on Feb. 8 at Eastern Junior High.

Eighth grade girls tourney play begins tonight at Manchester High School with three games on the slate: #8 seed West Union (2-9) will face #10 seed Whiteoak (0-11) at 5 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., it will be #4 seed Fairfield (8-3) versus #5 seed Ripley (6.5) and at 8 p.m., #7 seed Lynchburg (3-7) will battle #9 seed Manchester (2-9).

On Saturday at Ripley, #1 seed Eastern (11-1) will await the West Union-Whiteoak winner, while #2 seed North Adams (11-1) will face the Lynchburg-Manchester winner.Also on Saturday, #3 seeded Peebles (8-3) will match up with #6 seed Fayetteville (5-7).Those game times will be announced later.

North Adams and Eastern will play for the eighth grade SHAC title tonight in North Adams and with a North Adams win, the Lady Devils could be the league champion but only the #2 seed in the tourney.

The eighth grade girls semi-final contests are scheduled for Feb. 5 at West Union High School, with the championship game set for Feb. 8 at the Eastern Junior High School.
