A banner season for Peebles High School basketball continued last week with the release of the first Associated Press Girls basketball poll. Just as their male counterparts had been the previous week, the Peebles Lady Indians found themselves in the Top Ten in the state in Division IV, filling the number ten slot in the poll.

The Lady Indians were undefeated at the time of the first writer’s vote, but have since suffered their first losses of the year, which may drop them from the poll though one of those losses may not affect their standings in the poll too much as the defeat came at the hands of the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, who were ranked number five in the state, meaning that the Southern Hills Athletic Conference had two teams in the Top Ten.

The initial AP Poll for Division IV girls looked like this:

1. Maria Stein Marion Local 11-0

2. Newark Catholic 8-1

3. Ft. Loramie 9-1

4. Berlin Hiland 9-1

5. Fayetteville-Perry 9-0

6. Bridgeport 12-0

7. Reedsville Eastern 8-0

8. Bowerton Conotton Valley 8-0

9. Arlington 10-1

10. Peebles 8-0

Coach Josh Arey and his Peebles Indians boys squad, now standing at 10-0, moved up two spots in the latest AP Poll, now #6 in Division IV in the state, also picking up one first-place vote. Here is the latest Div. IV boys AP poll:

1. Conroy Crestview 10-0

2. Maria Stein Marion Local 9-0

3. Tipp City Bethel 9-1

(tie) Canal Winchester Harvest Prep 12-1

5. New Madison Tri-Village 9-0

6. Peebles 10-0

7. Troy Christian 10-1

8. Berlin Hiland 11-2

9. Sandusky St. Mary 9-1

10. Toledo Ottawa Hills 8-1
