Once again, West Union played host to a spring 3 on 3 soccer season as hundreds of players from schools all over southern Ohio competed on the field at West Union Elementary. This form of soccer (3 on 3) is played in close quarters, is fast-paced, and focuses on team communication and footwork. The short season with no practices, just games, gives players a chance to still play other sports while keeping their soccer skills fresh in the off season.

A large number of area high school soccer players helped to coach or referee and in the short seven-week season, over 360 games were scheduled. Thirty six teams competed at all age levels with teams coming from Western Brown, Lynchburg, Ripley, Whiteoak, Peebles, North Adams, and West Union.

Over the next few issues, The People’s Defender will be running photos of some of the participating teams in the spring soccer season. Today’s photos are K-4 teams.
