Hunter Harris of West Union attended all 15 BEST shows and won a single show pass for one 2015-2016 BEST show. He was the recipient of a 2014-2015 Weaver Leather Livestock Novice Sponsorship worth $105 to cover his Ohio Cattleman’s Association membership and nomination fee for one calf into the BEST program. He was also the recipient of a 2015 Best of the Buckeye Participant $500 Scholarship.

The 2014-2015 Ohio Cattlemen’s Association Beef Exhibitor Show Total Program wrapped up on May 9 with its annual banquet held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.

“The banquet is a time to celebrate the many achievements of our BEST participants, both in and out of the show ring,” said Stephanie Sindel, BEST coordinator. “Each participant is recognized for their hard work by family, friends, and BEST supporters alike.”

Several representatives from program sponsors, Bob Evans Farms, Burroughs Frazier Farms, Farm Credit Mid-America, Franklin Equipment LLC, M.H. Eby, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, and Weaver Livestock were on had to help present awards totaling more than $50,000 in belt buckles, furniture, show materials, and other awards.

This year’s BEST program featured 15 sanctioned shows that weaved its way across the state with 401 youth participants showing 562 head of market animals and heifers.

One of the Adams County youth recognized was Hunter Harris of West Union. He is the son of Steven and Crystal Harris of West Union.

Harris plans on participating in showing his market animals and heifers at the Adams County Fair, Ohio State Fair, and the Best of the Buckeye Program this summer.
