Last week, the Adams County Public Library celebrated National Library Week with events, activities, and contests at each library. We saw tremendous community support during Food for Fines, when the library accepted canned food as payment for overdue fines. Many donated additional food, and all donations will support local food pantries in each community. Community members stopped by the library to welcome new Director Nick Slone, enjoyed touring the library’s outreach delivery van, and took part in programs for adults and kids. If you haven’t visited the library for some time, stop by to discover what your community library has to offer.

This month, the library welcomes Deborah Bankhead as our new Youth Outreach Specialist. Deborah will help bring the library’s books and services to schools, teachers, and children, provide Story Time and Summer Reading programs at the Manchester Library, and work throughout Adams County to improve youth access to the library. Watch for Serpell, Deborah, and the Library Van in your community. Do you know someone who is homebound, or who would benefit from book delivery service? Call Serpell at 937-544-2591 for more information about the library’s outreach services.

Each library offers weekly Story Time activities for young children and caregivers. Join Deborah at the Manchester Library every Monday at 10:30 a.m., Kris at the North Adams Library on Tuesday at 11 a.m., Sherry at the Peebles Library on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., and Tara at the West Union Library on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. We’ll read books, create crafts, enjoy word and motion activities, and more. After school programs for kids and teens, free art classes, computer training, and more are available at the library. Visit the Adams County Public Library on Facebook for a schedule of upcoming events.
