On March 31, Adams County Public Library staff and board members gathered in the Adams County Commissioners office to celebrate Harold Showalter’s library career. Harold retired in February, after serving as the Adams County Public Library’s Executive Director for more than 15 years. The Adams County Commissioners presented a proclamation honoring Harold for his long service to the library and the community. Library staff, board members, and new Library Director Nick Slone thank Harold for his service, and wished him all the best in his retirement.

April 14 through 19, join us as the Adams County Public Library celebrates National Library Week. During Food for Fines, the library will waive $2 of fines owed on your library account for every can of food you donate. Donated canned foods will support local food pantries, who especially request canned vegetables, including green beans and corn. Stop by to tour the library’s outreach delivery van, which will visit each library during the week. Meet and greet new Library Director Nick Slone at the North Adams Library on Tuesday, April 15, from 3 – 4 p.m., and at the Peebles Library on Thursday, April 17, from 2 – 4 p.m. Don’t miss dozens of events happening all week, including contests, drawings, and more, during this annual celebration! Visit our Facebook page and our website for a full list of activities and events at your local library.

Every month, the Adams County Public Library outreach van visits communities around the county, bringing library services to neighborhoods close to you. If construction on state route 125 is making it difficult for you to reach West Union from the Blue Creek area, stop by the Mobile Library when we visit Blue Creek! On Thursday, April 10, the library van will visit the Jefferson Community Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and the Green Township Fire House from 12:30 to 2 p.m. For more information, call Serpell at (937) 544-2591.
