Car fails to yield

Two cars full of passengers collided at the intersection of state Route 32 and Tranquility Pike on Friday, June 20 at approximately 6:40 p.m.


Rachael Akers, 56, of Peebles was driving a 2011, blue Chevrolet Malibu with four minors as passengers south-bound on Tranquility Pike, when she failed to yield to traffic on state Route 32.


Chad Varney, 35, of Georgetown struck her, as she attempted to cross in front of him. He was driving a 2012, white Toyota Camry with Rebecca Varney, 35, and one minor as passengers.


Both cars drove off of state Route 32 after the collision with damage caused to a road sign.


Akers and two of her passengers ages 6 and 9 were transported by ambulance to Adams County Regional Medical Center, and Chad Varney, Rebecca Varney, and his minor passenger age 9 were also transported by ambulance to ACRMC. All individuals transported had non-incapacitating injuries.
