The GE Peebles Test Operation hosted a safety presentation held by Adams County Safe Communities for their contractors that are constructing the expansion of site 5D.
GE Aviation holds small events like this for their employees and those of their contractors every Monday, letting them know about safety issues and other important information. During the winter months, the focus was on the snow and slippery roads.
Deborah Ryan of Adams County Safe Communities gave the presentation. The original plan was for Lieutenant Randy McElfresh of the Ohio State Patrol to speak to the men and women; however, he was called away to assist with an arrest.
As many of the construction workers are from out of state, Ryan explained what the differences in Ohio driving laws are compared to other states. The primary focus was on seat belt laws, texting while driving, and drinking and driving.
Those in the audience asked a few questions to clarify some of Ohio’s laws, before thanking Safe Communities for the information and adjourning for lunch, as an engine test got underway in a nearby building.
