Citizen Staff Report

Urbana police have charged an Urbana man with killing his father at 536 S. Kenton St. on Sunday evening. A forensic autopsy done by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office led to the charges being filed Monday.

Police responded to the report of a deceased person at the location at 8:55 p.m. Sunday and found resident Jerald L. Myers, age 65, dead inside the home. According to police, the victim had obvious serious injuries.

Police investigators and crime scene specialists from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation worked the scene throughout Sunday night processing and collecting evidence.

Urbana police charged Christopher L. Myers, age 38 of that address, with two counts of murder and felonious assault on Monday night. These charges are in addition to charges of second-degree felonious assault and third-degree felony domestic violence for actions he took against his brother, Brian Myers, age 36, who resides at 317 W. Reynolds St., Urbana, during the discovery of the homicide. Christopher Myers is being held in the Tri-County Regional Jail on those charges and is scheduled to make his initial court appearance via video feed in Champaign County Municipal Court Tuesday morning.
