A drug-related probation violation complaint on Monday at the Heidler Apartment Complex on Delaware Street resulted in the arrest of two Washington C.H. women - one for possession of heroin and one for endangering a 2-year-old child.

At around 2:47 p.m. Monday, two Washington C.H. Municipal Court probation officers told police that they had followed Leslie B. Hesson, 20, of 5912 State Route 729, and Jessica F. Griffith, 23, of Sabina, to the apartments at 812 Delaware St., according to reports. The two suspects departed the apartment complex and drove northbound on Delaware Street and then eastbound on Linden Drive, before they came back and stopped in the 700 block of Aspen Drive.

Hesson was on probation, according to the officers. A probation officer approached the vehicle and asked Hesson, the passenger, to exit the vehicle and when she did, a syringe filled with a “yellowish brown liquid” was found inside the vehicle. At that point, the probation officer contacted the Washington C.H. Police Department.

Police advised Griffith, the driver, that based on the probation officer’s statement and what was located inside of the vehicle, a search of the vehicle would be conducted, according to reports.

A spoon with an “off-white, yellow residue” was located under the passenger seat, police said. At that time Hesson was placed under arrest for possession of heroin and possession of drug abuse instruments.

Also inside the vehicle was Griffith’s 2-year-old daughter, according to reports. Police asked Griffith if she was aware of why the two women went back into the apartment complex, reports said.

Griffith reportedly admitted that she took Hesson to 812 Delaware St. so that Hesson could purchase heroin. Griffith was then arrested for child endangering.

The liquid inside of the syringe and the residue on the spoon were field tested and found to be positive for heroin, reports said.

Both Hesson and Griffith were transported to the Fayette County Jail.
