The 18th annual U.S. Grant Celebration will take place the weekend of April 26, at the U.S. Grant Boyhood Home in Georgetown.
Historic activities include 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24 - Ned Lodwick will lead a discussion of the 34th OVI at the Brown County Historical Society Meeting at the Georgetown United Methodist Church, located 217 S. Main Street, in Georgetown. Fritz Klein, as President Lincoln, will discuss Lincoln’s humor at the Georgetown United Methodist Church 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25. Admission is $5 adults, $3 students, and children under 12 are admitted free.

9 a.m.- noon - Get a special U.S. Grant postal cancellation at Georgetown Post Office
9 a.m.-2 p.m. - Bonnets and Baskets with Norma McAfee and Jerry Yeater
10 a.m. - Opening Ceremony one-half hour at US Grant “Native Son” Statue on the Square
10:30 a.m. - Meet the Grants with Mike Miller and Jennifer Moran one-half hour, Dulcimer Music with Banks of the Ohio one hour, Infantry Firing Drill and Skirmish one-half hour with 70th OVI
10:45 a.m. - Suffrage Rally one-half hour with U.S. Grant Re-enactors
11 a.m. - “The Terrible Winter of 1864-65” with Lincoln, Grant, and Sherman one-half hour
11 a.m. - Chalk Drawing Contest one-half hour
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Open House - Ammen House on the square
11:30 a.m. - Infantry Firing Drill 70th OVI
Noon - Cavalry Demonstration, “My Childhood” with Fritz Klein as Abe Lincoln
12:30 p.m. - 1800’s Magic with Professor Farris, Infantry Firing Drill and Skirmish, Dulcimer Music
1 p.m. - Grant’s Presidency - Stan Purdy, Children’s Infantry Drill
1:30 p.m. - 1800’s Magic Show, Court Martial 70th OVI
2 p.m. - 70th OVI Memorial
3 p.m. - Ladies Tea - Floral Hall, Fairgrounds, program will be Horses of the Civil War by Ned Lodwick, Fairgrounds
6 p.m. - Carriage Ride to the Grand Ball - Free with Ball Admission
7 p.m. - Grand Ball featuring Jim’s Red Pants Band, Brown Co. Fairgrounds. Admission $15 adult and $5 children. Period costume required. Tickets on sale at Donohoo Pharmacy and Bailey House (937) 378-3087
