Clark Planetarium Christmas Show begins Dec. 16

PORTSMOUTH — Shawnee State University’s Clark Planetarium is planning the annual Planetarium Christmas Show “The Star of Bethlehem” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16; Wednesday, Dec. 18; Friday, Dec. 20; and Monday, Dec. 23.
“This has been one of our most popular programs for the past few years,” Director Tim Hamilton said.
The show explores the questions of where the Wise Men came from, the date of Jesus’ birth, and what exactly was the Star of Bethlehem.
“The last question is the trickiest part, because of the variety of astronomical events that have been proposed, and how few of them match the language in the Bible well,” Hamilton said.
The Planetarium will be closed for the Shawnee State’s final exams, the week of December 8-14.
This program is oriented towards the whole family, from small children to adults. The entire program will last about one hour, and includes other short shows.
All shows are free and open to the public. Watch a preview of the program online at the http://www.planetarium.shawnee.edu/shows.html.
