The Village of Aberdeen will host the annual Celebration in the Park on Friday, July 4, at the green space on the river.

Several events are planned. Registration for the baby show begins 10 a.m. with the show to follow at 11 a.m.

The park will be filled from 1 - 4 p.m. with children’s games, including a water balloon toss, egg toss, egg relay, cracker eating contest, a hula-hoop contest, a turtle race, and a frog jumping race.

Keep in mind the turtle race is BYOT — bring your own turtle — and the frog jumping contest is BYOF.

Registration for the cornhole tournament begins at 1 p.m. with the 2 p.m. tournament to follow and several additional contests will be held throughout the day, including a 4 p.m. bicycle decorating contest, a 4:30 p.m. best decorated cupcake contest (one cupcake), a 4:30 p.m. ugly truck contest, a 4:30 p.m. “husband call” contest, and a 5 p.m. best Fourth of July costume contest.

The talent show begins 5 p.m., and participants can register any time between 1 and 4:45 p.m. for the show.

A Cruise-In, with music by Just For Fun, sponsored by Big Boy Toys, will take place 6 p.m. and the fireworks show will begin at dusk.

Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged as Veterans Memorial Parkway will be closed to traffic. The boat dock will be open.
