Schneider, Walls, Taylor win titles at ACCC Dean Schneider and Jim Walls had the exciting match of the night on Aug. 12 at Adams County Country Club. The match came down to the final hole, the 135th of the league this season, with both players standing at 89 points each in match play for the season. The winner of the final hole would be league champion.
Schneider's long eagle putt missed on the par 4, but he birdied. Walls had a 10 foot putt for birdie to force a 9-hole playoff, but the putt grazed the right edge of the hole, giving him par, and earning Schneider his 1st league title in the Men's Championship Flight at Adams County Country Club.
Dean had a very successful season which included the record for low score in the 9-hole Men's League (27) on August 5. He also carded a handicap of two under par most of the season.
Michael Walls also captured his first League Title by winning the First Flight over Adam Carroll by six points. Along the way he set two records. He became the first player recorded to win any flight at ACCC by leading wire to wire (he led his flight every week, from week 1-15), and he became the youngest player ever to win any flight (18 years and 4 months).
Finally, Bryan Taylor scored his first Second Flight title by holding off Brion Howelett and scoring 92 points total for the year (only two off the record for any flight - 94 points, set by Gary Seaman in 1997).
Congratulations go to the following golfers for being champions or runner-ups of their respective flights: Championship Flight Champion, Dean Schneider, West Union; Championship Flight Runner-up, Jim Walls, Peebles; First Flight Champion, Michael Walls, Peebles; First Flight Runner-up, Adam Carroll, Otway; Second Flight Champion, Bryan Taylor, Manchester; Second Flight Runner-up, Brion Howelett, West Union.
