A former Hillsboro High School football star whose athletic skills raised him to the level of playing in the NFL is currently being held on a $32,500 bond at the Lexington-Fayette County Detention Center in Kentucky on charges surrounding kidnapping and assault, according to a lieutenant at the jail.
Thomas Samuel Turner, a.k.a T.J. Turner, was arrested on June 15, 2006 by Kentucky’s Metro Police Department and was booked into jail at approximately 3 a.m.
According to the MPD, the charges on Turner were made concerning a female individual.
Turner, 27, had an initial hearing at the criminal division of District Court June 20, 2006, according to a spokesman of the District Court in Fayette County, Ky.
The case was waived to the grand jury and the prosecutor’s office has 60 days from that date to hold a grand jury hearing.
Lieutenant Darin Kelly, a public information officer at the correction center, said that his records showed that no court date had yet been set for the grand jury hearing.
Turner had not posted bond as of July 5.
“He’s still here,” Kelly said.
Turner was a 1997 graduate of Hillsboro High School and was a starting linebacker for the Hillsboro Indians. Turner was named Player of the Year in 1996 when the Indians finished third in the Ohio AP Division III rankings.
He attended Michigan State University on a football scholarship. In 2001, Turner was selected by the New England Patriots as a linebacker and was later associated with the San Francisco 49ers organization.
