Crash claims life of local Amish boy Oliver Township - An 11-year-old Adams County boy died Saturday, following injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Wheat Ridge and Murphin Ridge roads on Friday afternoon. Services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. for David Ray Miller, son of Alan and Sara Sue (Mast) Miller, of the Amish Community.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:19 p.m. on Nov. 13 when Miller rode a non-motorized scooter across Wheat Ridge Road from north to south, according to a report by the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. As Miller crossed the roadway, Timothy W. McKee, Jr., 20, of Manchester, approached the intersection traveling northwest on Wheat Ridge Road in a 1993 Mercury Topaz. The preliminary investigation by the post indicates that McKee braked after observing the scooter cross the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, driving off the left side of the road and striking the scooter.
The Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman is serving the family.
