Manchester to host Jack Roush Day
MANCHESTER — With only six races left in the race for the 2004 Nextel Championship Cup, Adams County native Jack Roush will again be honored at his hometown of Manchester on Sunday, Oct. 17. Roush, owner of the #97 car, driven by Kurt Busch, and the #6 car, driven by Mark Martin, are still in the running for this year's cup. This week's race will be held Saturday night to allow Roush to attend festivities on Sunday.

A full day of activities are being planned with a cruise-in, auto parade, food, games, raffles and split the pot. All proceeds will benefit the Manchester Christmas Light Fund.

The events start at noon with a home-cooked meal with Roush at the community building. Tickets can be obtained by calling the clerk at 549-2516.

Also at noon, a fall festival honoring Jack will start at the River Barn on U.S. 52 where all the activities of the day will be held.

At that time, there will be a gospel lunch, a cruise-in and games for the children.

Line-up for the automobile parade, with Roush as Grand Marshall, is at 1 p.m. at Brown Hill Road. The parade will proceed down Jack Roush Way, west on U.S. 52 to the Riverbarn.

The first annual Jack Roush Car Show will be held at the Riverbarn beginning at 8 a.m. with judging at 10:30 a.m. and trophies awarded at 11:15 a.m. Free dash plaques will be awarded to all show cars. Entry fee is $10.

After the grand parade, Roush will host an autograph signing until 4 p.m.

An auction, featuring many special race items, will begin at 3 p.m., at which time the winners of the car show will be announced as well as raffle winners.

For further information, contact Buster Ruark at 549-3722 or Greg Scott at Adams County Lumber.
