Archbishop visits Adams County

The Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati visited Adams County on Friday, Sept. 5 to hold a special mass on a local farm.Congregants from parishes in neighboring counties, including St. Michael in Ripley and St. George in Georgetown, attended the service at the farm of a parishioner from Holy Trinity in West Union. Archbishop Schnurr was joined by priests from the Saint Martin Deanery, including Father Theodore Kosse and Father Bedel, former and current priests of Holy Trinity Church.

 

Seventh graders enjoy Conservation Field Days

The Adams County Soil and Water District held the 11th annual Seventh Grade Conservation Field Days on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 9 and 10.The field days are hosted at Adams Lake State Park with assistance from the Brown County Soil and Water Conservation District, Scioto County Soil and Water Conservation District, Adams-Brown Recycling, Shawnee State Forest, Division of Wildlife, Division of Forestry, and the Natural Resource Conservation service.

The Adult Education Department at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center is offering several courses in the medical office field. Develop the skills necessary to enter the growing field in the healthcare industry.Medical Terminology Class that begins Sept. 8. This course assists the student in understanding medical terminology. The class will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. each Monday for 10 weeks.

The Peebles Old Timers’ Days Festival is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 14 with a large selection of events planned over the course of the four days.Retired Chief Petty Officer Brian Seaman of the United States Coast Guard will serve as the Grand Marshal in the parade on Sunday.The Junior Miss and Queen Pageants begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday on the main stage.
