If you are a fan of West Union Knothole baseball, then the Rec Park here in the county seat was the place to be last Thursday night as all three of West Union’s Class “B” teams were in action, two of them against each other.

On one field, Coach Mike Cornell’s West Union squad faced off with a tough Whiteoak group. West Union grabbed an early 5-4 lead but the visitors rallied to take a 5-4 lead and held on to win by that score.

Just a stone’s throw away on the next field, the other two West Union “B” did battle and it was Coach Bobby Young’s WU2 team pulling off an exciting win, getting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth inning from Cody Thornberry to pull off the comeback victory.

Knothole action is in full swing in all four towns in the county. Just drop by the fields on any given night and you are bound to find a baseball or softball game to enjoy.
