Lilly Gray is only a freshman at Peebles High School but she already has her name etched in the school’s soccer record books and will have plenty of time to continue to pass more milestones.
In a win over Portsmouth West last week, Gray scored her 13th goal of the season, in only 10 games, breaking the previous record of 12 set by Haleigh White, who graduated from PHS in 2012.
According to Lady Indians’ head coach Gus Denzik, Gray is leading a team that is scoring goals at a record pace, with 33 total this season, easily outdistancing the previous high of 24.
Besides the offensive exploits of Gray, junior Breauna Shoemaker has scored 11 times (with a career mark of 24) and sophomore Kierra Stone has nine goals for the Lady Indians who stood at 5-5-0 at press time.
“Tons of talent with six games to go,” says Denzik.
