Alvin R. Mitchum, 73 years, of Peebles, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Monarch Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Seaman, Ohio.

Alvin was born in Liberty, Kentucky, on July 15, 1943, the son of the late William Mitchum and Dorothy Brown Mitchum. Alvin worked as a restaurant owner for many years.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Mitchum and Milford (Mitch) Mitchum. He is survived by four sons, Alvin (Buddy) Mitchum, Jr., of Williamsburg, Ohio; Kevin (Shelli) Mitchum, of Fairfield, Ohio; Mike (Christin) Mitchum, of Maineville, Ohio; and Matthew Mitchum, of Grove City, Ohio; two daughters, Lori (Doug) McRoberts, of Sardinia, Ohio; and Debbie Spelman, of Fairfield, Ohio; two brothers, Art Mitchum, of Florida; and Bobby Mitchum, of Cincinnati; three sisters, Norma Riley and Darlena Jones, both of Kentucky; and Sharon Boling, of Cincinnati. He will be missed by his sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, with burial to follow at the Antioch Cemetery, Peebles, with Phil Fulton officiating.
