Floyd E. Maddy, 78 years, of Otway, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at his residence. Floyd was born in Rarden, Ohio, on October 17, 1938, the son of the late Denver Maddy and Grace Hoffer Maddy. Floyd worked as a carpenter until his retirement, primarily at Randall’s. He attended the Rarden Baptist Church. He was best known to his family and friends for his generous, helpful spirit, as he cared for others more than himself.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Miller and Judy Maddy, as well as one brother, Denver Maddy. He is survived by four sons, Earl Maddy, Tom (Ida) Maddy, Jeff (Dayanna) Maddy, Mark (Becky) Maddy, all of Rarden; two daughters, Shelly (Ron) Woods, of Otway, and Amanda (Dennis) Landrum, of Rarden; one brother, Bob Maddy, of Celina; and three sisters, Helen Maddy, Erma Rose, both of Piketon, and Thelma Rose, of Hillsboro. He will be missed by his thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, with burial to follow at the New Hoffer Hill Cemetery, Otway. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11:00 until the time of the service Wednesday at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
