Gladys Marie Perdue, 88 years, of Peebles, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Monarch Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Home.
Gladys was born in Adams County, Ohio, on April 7, 1928, the daughter of the late Chessie Browning and Okie Smith Browning. Gladys worked as a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Perdue, and a brother, Bill Shoemaker. Gladys is survived by a son, Tom (Brenda) Perdue, of Peebles; two daughters, Peggy Branham, of West Union, and Trudy (Wayne) Mays, of Charleston, West Virginia. Gladys also leaves behind a brother, Bud Shoemaker, of Sinking Spring, and a sister, Sue Shafer, of New Vienna. She will be missed by her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 1:00 PM, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, in Peebles, with Dave Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Peebles.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has followed Gladys’s wishes and requests that memorials be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
