For the fourth consecutive season, North Adams High School will play host to the Coach Young Classic, a full day of high school basketball action in honor of the late Coach Dave Young, long-time coach and educator in the Adams County School District.  The day features teams from the Southern Hills Athletic Conference in each contest, matched up with solid teams from other parts of southeast Ohio.
The action begins at 10 a.m. when Coach Joey Darnell and his Manchester Greyhounds will face off with the Portsmouth Trojans, followed by an 11:45 a.m tip off for Coach Josh Arey and his Peebles Indians as they hook up with the Tartans of Sciotoville East, in what should be quite an entertaining match up.
Colorful coach Josh White and his West Union Dragons take the court next for a 1:30 battle with the Waverly Tigers, and the only girls game of the day follows, as Coach Rob Davis and his North Adams Lady Devils welcome in the Eastern Pike Lady Eagles for a 3:15 tip off.
The Eastern Pike boys team, who defeated Peebles last weekend, will be up next at 5 p.m., facing last year’s Final Four Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs and Coach Matt Carson.  At 6:45 p.m., Coach Rob Beucler and his Eastern Warriors match up with the Chesapeake Panthers.
The day concludes as it should, as Coach Nathan Copas, who succeeded Coach Young at the helm of the North Adams varsity boys, brings his Green Devils on to face the Tigers of New Boston.
The Coach Young Classic offers fans a chance to see seven high school basketball games for one single price of $8 in a full day of hoops action.
